How accurate is it?
As accurate as your measurements and the figures on your tin or pack. The sums are done the same way every time and shown in full. It cannot see your walls, so it cannot know about bare plaster, damp or a surface that needs a different product. Check each line against the tin or pack you buy.
Where do the prices on a list come from?
From three places, and each price says which. A partner shop's own price, read from the file that shop publishes, with the day it was read and the shop's link marked Ad: where more than one partner shop prices a list, each shop's total is shown side by side, in alphabetical order, and they are never ranked. For a material no shop prices, a typical price range from at least two named publishers, labelled typical, with the day it was read and whether VAT is stated. Or a price you type yourself. None is a quote: how BuildBatch is paid says which links are adverts.
How much does it cost to have a room painted, or a floor laid?
BuildBatch does not set a price for labour. A list gives a job's cost three ways: the materials, having it done, and the two together. Having it done is the published labour figures, worked for your room's own area where the publisher gives a rate per square metre. The UK labour costs page gathers the rates other sites publish for each job, each with its publisher, the date of their page and whether materials and VAT are in it. They are published figures and arithmetic, not an average and not a quote: for the job itself, ask two or three tradespeople to look at it.
Is it free?
Yes, and no account is needed. Without an account, BuildBatch sends your measurements, names and prices nowhere: the sums run on your own device. It does count which tools and steps are used, such as the job chosen or a list copied, without a cookie or any identifier: the privacy page says what. Some shops' links pay a commission and are marked Ad: how BuildBatch is paid names them.
